Four levels of SIMS evaluation
Levels 1 and 2 are designed for internal use — your team collects and interprets the data on your own timeline. Levels 3 and 4 bring in the Clareval team for expert interpretation or independent evaluation.

Who fills out the free SIMS Snapshot?
Any staff member who works with multilingual learners can take it — ESL teachers, classroom teachers, administrators, coaches, counselors, and support staff. The snapshot is designed for individual reflection, not building-level reporting.
How long does the free SIMS Snapshot take?
About 3 minutes. It includes 15 statements across the five SIMS domains. You'll see your results immediately on screen.
What's the difference between the Expert Review and the Independent Audit?
The Expert Review is based entirely on your SIMS Snapshot data. The Independent Audit adds independent data collection — interviews, observations, and document review — conducted by the Clareval team. It's appropriate when districts need an external, research-grade evaluation for accreditation, grant reporting, or board accountability.
Is the SIMS Snapshot data private?
Yes. The free SIMS Snapshot stores nothing — your answers stay in your browser and are never sent anywhere. District Report data is collected only with explicit district participation and is never shared outside the district.
Why are paid tiers listed as introductory pricing?
SIMS validation is currently underway — expert review, pilot testing, and reliability analyses are in progress. We're offering introductory rates during this period. Prices will be updated once that work is complete, and early adopters help shape the research.
Do I need to involve Clareval to use the District Report?
No. Levels 1 and 2 are fully self-directed. We send you the survey link and the written report — what you do with it is entirely up to your team. There's no required facilitation, no check-ins, and no outside involvement unless you want it.
